Barbour jacket|This year, Barbour is taking part alongside twelve other retailers including Albam, Folk, Margaret Howell, and Topshop.

As part of Barbour’s participation in this year’s Wool Week, Sarah Lawrenson, Andy MacMillan and Alex Bradley from Barbour’s Design Team were invited to attend a formal judging day hosted by Wool Week organisers and President of Condé Nast International, Nicholas Coleridge.

Students from Northumbria University had submitted their designs following a briefing session at Barbour House back in March, so it was the Design Team’s job to decide at the Judging Day which entries had best met the brief.

Two winners were selected, one for Womenswear, and one for Menswear, both of which offered something new and interesting to add to the current Autumn Winter 2013 heritage collections.

Naomi Robertsons’s inspiration came from the gates in fields found on country walks, the pattern of which then featured in a Fair Isle print on her winning Womenswear design.

Hazel Hurst’s winning Menswear design was a clever spin on the classic shirt, using Wool instead of cotton and featuring a colourful flecked yarn.

Barbour jackets|Naomi’s and Hazel’s designs will now be put into production and sold at our Covent Store during Wool Week, which this year will run from 14th October to 20th October.
